Empowerment Coaching
Empowerment Coaching
Mindset Coach...
Spiritual Coach...
Nurse Coach…
Body Coach…
Coaching is the new buzzword these days. It seems like every time you turn around someone says they're "a coach." It can be confusing.
What exactly is coaching?
According to the International Coaching Federation (ICF):
Coaching is “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. The process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and leadership.”
The Institute of Coaching (IOC) defines coaching as:
“an interpersonal process that helps people achieve positive change and growth. By harnessing innate strengths, uncovering intrinsic motivations, and asking empowering questions, coaching fosters self-generated insight, vision, and goal clarity.”
Hi I’m Christen
I was just a tired, exhausted, burned out nurse dreading work and imaging what I could do instead of nursing. It affected me professionally AND personally!
Now I help nurses struggling or wanting to prevent the struggle using the same strategies and tools I used to create a happier, healthier life.
Get your free 5 minute visualization to decrease your stress, increase your peace, and sleep better tonight….naturally!
Empowerment coaching falls right in line with both definitions and although it can appear similar to life coaching, there are differences.
A unique thing I love about empowerment coaching is it can influence your relationships, career, health & wellness, and your life as a whole!
Instead of giving a client tasks to do to improve their life, such as:
clean out the cupboards so you’ll have more space,
go through your papers so you can be more organized, or
make sure you exercise daily for 30 minutes to care for your body
Empowerment coaching focuses on what’s holding someone back from cleaning out the cupboards, organizing their papers, or exercising so they can move toward their goals.
Coaching & breathwork focus on moving past the barrier so you can get where you’re going faster.
Coaching is incredibly powerful. If it wasn’t for coaching & breathwork, I probably wouldn’t have this business today!
When a nurse is emotionally drained, has nothing left to give, or feels dead inside (sound familiar?), simple tasks like these take a lot of effort to do.
Not to mention bigger decisions like,
Should I:
leave nursing,
leave this relationship,
start a business, or
maybe go back to school.
For someone who feels drained, decisions and the steps it takes to get there seem monumental. Not to mention all the mental pressure most nurses put on themselves to be productive….or to do more.
You may feel like your situation is a big mountain that will take an extraordinary amount of effort to climb.
The truth is, you already have what it takes to do these things, you're just stuck. This is where a coach, like me, can help.
Women’s Empowerment Coaching
Women’s Empowerment Coaching
The word empowerment has quite a history from Freudian psychology to different activist movements.
However, the definition of empowerment means:
“giving someone the authority or ability to do something. Giving the power back to the individual to make decisions and take action.”
Women have a history of needing permission to speak up, to act, to do. Working as a nurse, it’s easy to find yourself in positions where your expertise feels undervalued.
Some nurses feel stuck, like the hospital or the healthcare system has all the power.
In a broken healthcare system, it can be easy to forget who you are. Women’s Empowerment Coaching is a perfect fit for nurses because it helps you reconnect with that part of yourself that feels dead inside.
As a women’s Master Empowerment Coach, I help you discover where you resonate on the Map of Consciousness and guide you in moving forward.
For example:
A nurse who’s consistently hanging out in apathy or guilt will have a very hard time deciding if she should leave the profession or go back to school.
The more that decision is delayed, the more she beats herself up for procrastinating.
The more she procrastinates, the stronger the guilt and the more her confidence goes down.
You see where this is leading, right?
The truth is it’s hard to make such a big decision when you’re feeling that low. Your options feel limited and you aren’t in the headspace to make it.
This is the benefit of combining breathwork with empowerment coaching. You can move out of those emotions faster and the better you feel, the less intimidating those decisions are.
Empowerment coaches don’t tell you what to do with your life or answer questions only you can answer. Coach responsibilities are to guide you to a higher, lighter place so those decisions don’t feel so overwhelming anymore.
Through empowerment coaching and breathwork, you become the boss babe of your life!
Purpose of Coaching
Purpose of Coaching
This all sounds good, but you may be wondering:
What is the purpose of coaching?
What are the benefits of coaching?
Aren’t these things you can do yourself?
The short answer is yes and no.
Yes, of course you can begin to create your own path forward. However, people in this boat end up hiring a coach because they get stuck.
They’ve made some progress but they’re not sure what to do next or why what they’re doing isn’t working. Also people in this boat aren’t consistent. They make some headway, but then life happens and things fall by the wayside.
Many people enjoy having a coach to make the process faster and easier. When someone’s already walked the path you’re starting, they’re able to show you the way forward and keep things moving.
Coaches can keep you on track and provide accountability.
Consistency is the key to moving forward and having a scheduled coaching session can provide you with that.
I can also guarantee you most executive nurses have coaches. In some institutions, it’s even a requirement because the company realizes the benefits of coaching outweigh the investment to hire someone.
In other words, you’re getting more out than what you put in.
Both the IoC and the ICF cite 86% of companies report recouping their investment on coaching and more!
Many, many nurses and women in healthcare buy into the “I’m fine” and think to themselves something like:
“everyone else seems to be doing fine, if I can’t hold it together, it must be me. I’m weak.”
They mentally beat themselves up and before you know it, they’re morally injured, burned out, and ready to walk away from the profession.
I’m here to tell you it doesn’t have to be this way and I promise you, you’re stronger and more powerful than you’re likely giving yourself credit for.
Michael Jordan, Simone Biles, Muhammad Ali, Venus and Serena Williams are just some of our most famous athletes and all of them had coaches!
It’s not because they’re weak or something’s wrong with them. These are some of the toughest & most impressive people we’ve seen in action!
It’s about improving their skill, bringing out their strengths, and helping them become the best version of themselves.
That’s the purpose of coaching and there are several reasons why it’s important.

Why coaching is important
Why coaching is important
One of the biggest reasons coaching is so important is because of the many benefits it offers. It’s not just important in the workplace or sports, but at an individual level.
Empowerment starts within, that’s where the most powerful, meaningful, and lasting change takes place.
A unique benefit of empowerment coaching & breathwork, is both have the ability to have a ripple effect on most than just 1 aspect of your life.
Some benefits I’ve experienced personally and seen in coaching and breathwork clients are:
Overcoming unhealthy patterns by getting to the root of negative beliefs & attitudes
Restored and strengthened resilience
Increased energy and productivity
Openness to creative possibilities
Establishing & strengthening personal boundaries
Thriving instead just getting by
Increased peace & calmness
Improved self-image
Increased joy and decreased anxiety
Setting goals & realistic plans to achieve them
Increasing self-awareness and tapping into personal strengths
Both the IoC and the ICF state:
80% of people who receive coaching report increased self-confidence
More than 70% improve work performance, relationships, and more effective communication skills
Coaching is an incredible personal development tool, but is great for organizations too!
According to the IoC, organizations benefit from hiring coaches because it can help:
Empower individuals and improve performance
Encourage individual responsibility
Increase employee and staff engagement
Identify and develop high potential employees
Motivate and empower individuals to excel
All of these benefits are right in line with organizational nursing empowerment and Magnet. Coaching helps bring those same benefits to an individual level, where meaningful and lasting change truly takes place.
You can have whatever structures you want within an organization, but you can’t skimp out on addressing the individual nurse.
Many successful leaders and I have all read the book Atomic Habits by James Clear. One of the key takeaways is: it’s the little changes every day that make the biggest impacts.
The same is true in nursing, it may seem futile or not worth the investment to empower the individual nurse, but little changes in one nurse at a time can have an incredible ripple effect on an organization.
Just as one nurse with toxic behavior can bring down an entire unit, one empowered nurse can also uplift it.

How much does a life coach cost?
How much does a life coach cost?
This is one of the most common and understandable concerns people have. Quality coaching isn’t cheap and it’s not always covered by insurance.
If coaches undervalue their services, people are less likely to be committed & show up for sessions.
Whereas overcharging your clients can also result in no clients for sessions because they can’t afford it.
My goal with pricing is to make sure it’s an investment for the client so they invest in doing the work, but not being completely out of financial reach.
People usually only focus on the dollar amount when they ask this question, but I’d like to invite you to think deeper.
Coaching is more than a financial expense, it’s an investment and a commitment to yourself.
When thinking of cost, also think of questions such as:
What’s the reality that I’m actually going to do this on my own?
What’s the likelihood I’m still in the same position 6 months from now?
What’s the cost of not achieving my goal? How will that affect my life?
If I could reach my goal faster, would the benefit outweigh the investment?
If price didn’t matter, am I really ready to let go & move forward?
I know something has to give, but I can’t put something else on my plate. Work/life balance sounds nice, but am I ready to put energy into trying to make that a reality?
It’s not always money that stops people. I’ll never forget one nurse I worked with who was the director of her department.
Both professionally and personally, she had so much on her plate that she just couldn’t fit something else in. We arranged monthly breathwork sessions for her to help with stress management.
Although she didn’t have the time (it’s never a good time, am I right?), deciding to make herself a priority to at least manage her stress was incredibly powerful for her.
Now, when she says she doesn’t have the time, that’s her cue that she needs to take the time! I believe this is probably true for most people.
I’ve also coached a couple individuals that really needed to start with counseling first. For these individuals, breathwork-only sessions are the most ideal and support what they’re already doing in counseling.
I love collaborating with other coaches and counselors to build a referral base for clients.
There have been times when I wasn’t have been the best fit for someone so I’m always happy to point someone in the direction that’s best for them.
The truth is the cost of hiring a coach is incredibly varied.
For coaches like me, where clients have different needs, having one solid price isn’t the best approach. I like to connect with people individually about their goals, their budget, and how I can help them get there.
I have programs that start at $40 up to $3500 with different payment plans. Not everyone needing a whole $3500 package can afford to drop it all at once.
Another thing you can do if you want to “try it before you buy it”, is to buy a smaller service and see how you feel working with the coach. One way to do this is to try a workshop or buy just a couple sessions instead of committing to a 10-session package.
I have a 3-session package I offer for people who want to get a feel for coaching and breathwork.
Most coaches have freebies you can try. Currently you can sign up for my e-mail list by trying my visualization to decrease stress, sleep better naturally, & increase your peace in just 5 minutes. I’m also on Pinterest and eventually YouTube.
A good thing about social media is you can kinda get a feel for who you’re interested in working with.
